Face of the Day

Hey guys! This is my face of the day. I’ve decided to move on from the Disney princess series, because I found I wasn’t as inspired anymore. And let’s face it, art is no fun unless it’s inspired.

So, this look is just more of a simple, neutral look with a little bit of an edgier eyeliner.

Mother’s Day: While I’m lucky enough that my little one is really good to me everyday, this year he made me feel extra special. For those of you that don’t know, this is Aidan, my handsome little five-year-old.

Swimsuit by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro: A good read. Murder Mystery without all the usual red herrings.

Get Hard: Hilarious. No other words.

index3

Wayward Pines: Intriguing. Different. Check it out if you haven’t already.

photo 1

Lindt A Touch of Sea Salt Dark Chocolate: A delicious blend of sweet and salty.

photo 2

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara: Love the brush. Love the formula. Perfect for setting bows and adding a touch of color.

Maybelline Colorsensational Elixir in Mauve Mystique: There are no words to describe how amazingly silky this formula is. Also super glossy, but not at all sticky.

Okay. Today I am skipping over the usual makeup look post, because I had something serious I wanted to talk to you guys about.

First of all, have you seen this? If not, watch it now.

So this video that Amy Schumer did really brought to the surface a lot of stuff for me.

Look, whether you wear makeup or not, who cares? If you are comfortable, then that’s what matters. You like to go bare faced? You go girl! You prefer a more made up look? Power to you!

The problem is when we start shaming those around us. I mean, come on guys, is someones lack of or excess of makeup really hurting you? I think not. We should be building each other up, not tearing one another down.

And believe me, I hear it, too. I have had people comment on my instagram that I wear too much makeup, that I shouldn’t wear makeup to please others. Two things strike me as odd about that. First of all, you are looking at a user name called Makeup_By_Amy_Perrone. did you really think this was going to be an instagram account that showed a bunch of bare faced people?

Second, how do you know I wear makeup to please others? Because guess what? i don’t. Makeup is something fun for me, something I love doing. I don’t put makeup on to please other people, I put makeup on because I enjoy it.

Anyway, sorry about this little rant. I just want everybody to be a little more positive and a little more accepting in the future.

See you guys Monday for Mani Monday!

How to get long lasting, no heat curls — May 21, 2015

How to get long lasting, no heat curls

photo 1(2)

Now you’ll finally get to see what the cut up t-shirt thing is all about. All you will need for this hair project is a 100% cotton t-shirt cut into about 1-inch by 8 inch strips and a spray bottle filled with water.

photo 1

So, first you’ll want to take locks of hair and simply spray them a littel with your water. Then, wrap them around your fingers. The more fingers you use, the larger the curl will be. You might have to play with sizes until you find out what works best for you. I typically use two or three. Here I used two throughout.

photo 2

Next, simply slide a t-shirt strip through the loop of hair, and tie it off.

photo 3

Repeat until your whole head is done, and you look somewhat crazy like this.

Now, typically, I sleep with these in. It is super comfortable. I have tried leaving them in for only about three hours, though. It does work, but your curls might not hold up as long.

photo 1 (2) photo 2 (2)

This is how my hair looks when I first untie and remove the strips. It’s a little too separated for the look I’m trying to achieve today, so I sort of fluff it a bit and run my fingers through it a couple of times.

photo 2(1)

And that’s it. Super easy, heat free, product free, long lasting curls!

You can even rock these the next day, if you put your hair in a very loose bun that night while sleeping.

See you guys Saturday!

Top Five Hair Favorites — May 19, 2015

Top Five Hair Favorites

Untitled

Today I’m going to talk about my top 5 hair favorites. Not Top 5 hair products, because as you’ll see at the end, one of them definitely isn’t a product.

photo 2(2)

Bioinfusion Hydrating Conditioner:

This conditioner is infused with nourishing avocado oil and moisturizing grape seed oil. It’s also paraben and sulfate free. As many things as I do to my hair that can be harsh, like straightening and dying, it’s important to me to have a reallt good conditioner. This one leaves my hair smooth and silky.

photo 2(3)

Naturaltech Replumping Hair Filler Superactive:

Leaves my hair frizz free and volumized. Usually I find that you get one or the other, so to find a product that provides bot is amazing.

photo

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray:

An oldie but a goodie. Creates great beachy waves.

photo 1(1)

Pantene Pro-V Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo:

Who doesn’t need a good dry shampoo? This one works great, and it smells good!

photo 1(2)

A 100% Cotton T-Shirt:

Cut into strips about 1-inch by 8-inches, this is a life saver. More details on how I use this Thursday.

That’s it for today. What hair stuff are you guys obsessed with?

Not a sponsored post. Influenster sent me the Pantene dry shampoo for testing purposes. The rest was bought by me, with my own money. All of my own honest opinions.

Review: Amazing Cosmetics — May 14, 2015

Review: Amazing Cosmetics

Today I thought I’d talk about a product I’ve been trying our recently. The thing is, the older I get, the more I wish I’d started an anti aging regimen earlier. Anyway, I do what I can now, and am always on the hunt for new and exciting products.

So, I heard about this product.

photo 1

While I don’t have a ton of wrinkles or anything, I am developing the horrid elevens between my brows. I decided to test this out mostly there with some use around my eyes and mouth for preventative care.

So, according to directions, you should apply twice daily for 15 days to see results.

Here is what the Amazing Cosmetics website has to say about the product:

  • Key ingredient and winner of in-cosmetics Best Ingredient of 2013 Award, Neodermyl®, significantly increases collagen density by 7.5 times and increases firmness by 13 times and elasticity by 1.6 times with twice daily usage.
  • Visible results in 15 days.
  • Neodermyl® will reduce wrinkle depth by 15% and wrinkle volume by 13% in only 15 days with twice daily usage.
  • Neodermyl® delivers equivalent results to one injections of collagen filler in just two weeks: -15% wrinkle reduction (source American Society of Plastic Surgeons 2013).
  • Improvements SUSTAINED after 60 days of twice daily usage.*
  • Apply morning before makeup and evening after makeup removal.
  • Contains natural preservatives in a 6 botanical blend including, Cinnamon, Thyme, Oregano, Lavender, Rosemary and Goldenseal along with Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides and Ceramides.

Well, I don’t have a science degree or anything, but I can tell you my thoughts.

Pros:

Really does seem to help with lines.

Helps makeup apply more smoothly around the eyes.

Refreshing menthol feeling at application.

Great herbal smell.

Massaging triple ball roller tip.

photo 2

Cons:

Definitely needs to dry completely before applying makeup, or your makeup will be sliding all over.

Also needs some time to dry before bed, or it just ends up on your pillowcase.

I can’t really tell if this helps with preventative care, since that would be kind of hard to prove.

Overall:

Yes. I would recommend this. It’s very soothing. If your pockets can handle the price tag (this sells for $35 on their website), check it out!
