July favorites

Geez! July is winding up already? Hmmm. I guess it is true that the older you get the faster time goes by.
Anyway, here’s what I’ve been obsessed with all this month.

Favorite moment: obviously, I had a blast celebrating Independance Day.

Favorite book: The a girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. Amazing! Simply amazing. Can’t say too much about the plot without giving it away, but if you’re a reader, definitely pick this one up. And if you’re not a reader, maybe you should give this one a go. You never know.

Favorite food:  Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Bars. Ummm… Not to horrible for you and delicious? I’ll take it.

Favorite show: Scream the Series.  I’m pretty embarrassed to admit this one. I totally went into this thinking I was going to absolutely loath it. I mean, come on, you can’t just take a movie I loved forever ago and decide to make it a series. However, I can admit when I’m wrong. Somehow, this just works.

Favorite movie: True Story. Great story line, great acting. Plus, can one ever get enough of James Franco?

Favorite lip product: Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Pure Hollywood. I had definite trouble with this at first. The texture somehow wasn’t working for me. But I found that it I do a lip scrub and moisturizer my lips really well, this is an amazing nude. Works really well with a smoked out eye look. As a matter of fact, here’s a swatch for you guys.

Favorite skin care item: Real Chemistry luminous 3 minute peel and enviromental rescue masks. Totally disgusting, but in a good way. The sheets masks are amazing, but the real deal here is the peel. It strips away all your dead skin in minutes, without harsh beads or crystals.

Favorite body product: Rituals Himalaya Scrub in Sweet Almond Oil and Indian Rose. This smells like heaven. I literally with I had enough to fill a swimming pool and just lay in it. Plus, it makes my skin look great!

Here’s what it looks like to give you a better idea.

Favorite eye product: Beauty by Piret Eye Silk in Naked. I’ve been testing this out a few different ways. There will be a full review soon. But I can tell you this. I will repurchase this over and over again. I can’t wait to try other colors.

Favorite App: Colorfy. Okay. Out there catergory, but I couldn’t help it. I’ve had so much fun with this thing. It’s like a grown up version of a coloring book. This is one I’ve created.
And that’s all this month everyone! I hope you had an amazing July! See you Saturday with a new makeup look!
I received the Rituals Scrub as employee gratis from Birchbox. I received the Weight Watchers icrecream for free from Influenster for review purposes. This in no way affects my opinion of these items. All opinions are as always my own.

Review: Dr. Jart Dermaclear Micro Water — July 28, 2015

Review: Dr. Jart Dermaclear Micro Water

Hey everyone! So, I’m sure at least some of you saw this in my B.Y.O.B. post. I thought I’d do a little tiny mini review for you guys.

So first of all, let me explain Dr. Jart’s Dermaclear Micro Water. This is supposed to be a makeup remover, cleanser and toner all in one product. You should be able to put a bit of this on a cotton round, swab your face some and be all set. You don’t even need to rinse it.

Well, in theory, I love this idea. I’m really digging multi use products these days. Kind of like how I love using my Anastasia Contour Kit to create eye looks

This does work great if you don’t wear very much makeup, or like on a day when you are just at the gym or something. If you are wearing a full face, however, you will need to use a makeup wipe or makeup remover first.

The good thing is it really does leave the skin feeling much better than just using a makeup remover would. In fact, I’ve switched to using this in the morning after my workouts and like how refreshing it feels. For makeup removal, though, this just can’t cut it for me.
That’s all for today guys! See you guys Thursday with a July favorites post!
I received this product as a perk for being a Birchbox employee. That in no way affects my opinion of the product. All opinions stated above are my own.

Mani Monday┬á —

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday, everyone! Look at my tiny little nubs. čśŽ I really haven’t been taking care of my nails and broke 3 this week, so I broke down and decided to chop them all off and start from scratch.

This is two coats of L.A. Colors in Live with L.A. Colors Spatkling Diamonds on top. Then I added three dots of Cover Girl Everbloom to each nail. Finally, I slapped on a coat of Essie Matte About You. Done and done.

Are there any looks or colors you guys would like to see? Either in makeup looks or nail posts? Let me know!

See you guys tomorrow with a new review!

Strobing: what in the world is it? — July 23, 2015

Strobing: what in the world is it?

Hi everyone! I’m sure a lot of you have heard about strobing lately. It’s definitely been floating around social media platforms in abundance. But do you actually know what it is?

Basically, strobing is using products to add a little extra light to where the light naturally would hit you face. It’s easy to think of it as highlighting without the contouring.

It’s kind of nice to quickly do this technique as opposed to the whole process of highlighting and contouring. Super quick and easy. I promise everyone can do it. Plus, it works well with simple everyday makeup, or a more full face look.

Here’s how I like to do my strobing. I like to use a more matte finish in my chin and the center lower part of my forehead. I typically use L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in a shade lighter than my foundation.

Then, I like to use something with just a bit more shimmer along my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, and on my Cupid’s bow. Lately I’ve been loving using Milani Runeay Eyes eyeshadow in Girls Luv Pink layered under Physicians Formula Nude Wear Glowing Nude Bronzer. You can definitely use only one product, I just like the way these look together. (And to be completely honest, I’m also the type of girl that’s likes her highlight to sort of stand up and say hello.)

Here’s a bit of a closer look:

It’s a great way to add some dimension and healthy glow. čÖé I hope you all give it a go.

I’ll see everyone Saturday with a new Face of the Day post!

Billy Jealousy Body Moisturizer in Sake Bomb:

Smells amazing! Not greasy feeling. Just what will convince most men they definitely need a moisturizer in their lives.

Helps neutralize your skin after cleansing. Alcohol free so don’t be afraid, it’s not going to dry you out.

Mani Monday┬á — July 20, 2015

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday everyone! This week I went a little more neutral. Well kind of. That darker color is actually a purple.

Any way, I used LA Colors Sparkling Diamonds on my middle finger. Next, I used my good old tried and true nude Sally Handen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish in Cafe Au Lait on my ring and pointer fingers. Finally comes OPI nail polish in Lincoln Park After Dark. This I used to add polka dots to my ring fingers, a small heart in the corner of my pointer fingers, and to paint my pinky finger and thumb.
That’s all guys! What are you rocking on your nails this week? Any new polishes I just have to have?

See you guys tomorrow with a post all about  men’s products.
I am in no way affiliated with either these products or companies.

Let’s Talk Skincare — July 16, 2015

Let’s Talk Skincare

Hey guys! So recently I’ve been learning so so so much about skincare. I thought I’d share with you guys all that I’ve learned. Also, fairly soon I’ll be posting an updated skin care routine. It’s definitely changed a lot.

First, do you know how you’re supposed to apply you skincare products after washing your face? Basically, the simple rule is that the thinner the product, the earlier in your routine you apply it.

After you cleanse and tone you face, use and spot treatments first. That dark spot you’re trying to correct or pimple you’re trying to treat deserve first dibs. This way those treatments don’t have to work their way through other products. This is one I’m loving these days.

Paula’s Choice Resist BHA 9 Treatment

Next you want to apply your serum. Usually thinner in consistency, this might have trouble working their way through a thicker moisturizer. I’m totally obsessed with this one.

Glow by Dr. Brandt Overnight Resurfacing Serum

Next is eye cream. We will get more in depth on this later. Here’s what I’ve been using.

Sunday Riley Start Over Eye Cream

Lastly, apply a moisturizer to lock it all in and hydrate you face overnight. Make sure you are using a moisturizer that works for your skin type. I have oily skin, and fo the longest time I thought I didn’t need moisturizer, but, trust me, everyone does. This one works well with my skin.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream

Now let’s talk ingredients. Obviously, I can’t go into every ingredient in this post, but I’ll try to touch on the most common ones at least.

Hyaluronic Acid: Basically helps retain moisture. Can be injected to fill fine lines and wrinkles.

Retinol: Helps with skin cell turnover, so can be used to treat almost any skin related issue. Most commonly known for it’s anti aging properties.

Ceramides: Help the skin retain moisture, especially in the treatment of eczema.

Peptides: Help with collagen production and healing of wounds.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid: Helps exfoliate the surface of the skin to promote radiance and anti aging.

Beta Hydroxy Acid: Help teat deeper into the skin. Mostly used for acne or blackhead pone skin.

Antioxiants: Help repair skin from free radicals in the environment.

And that’s for today. What’s the one skincare ingredient you couldn’t live without?

I’ll see you guys Saturday with a new makeup look!

All opinions are my own. I am not a doctor. I am only sharing the knowledge I’ve gained that may be useful to my readers.
