September Favorites

Hey! So today I’m here to talk about all of the things I’ve been obsessing over for the month of September!

The place I wish I never had to leave:

I got to go to the amazing Great Wolf Lodge with family recently. It’s basically this huge lodge hotel with everything you need built in: restaurants, shopping, entertainment and even an indoor water park! I can’t wait to go back when it’s cold it and experience being at a water park while it’s snowing outside! The little munchkin loved it, too!

The thing I couldn’t stop eating:

So basically these Brookside Dark Chocolate Acai and Blueberry things are like crack. The tartness of the blueberry and acai fallacies perfectly goes with the dark chocolate. Someone I know (you know who you are) recently spilled an entire bag of mine, and I freaked out a little.

The show I’ve been loving:

Fear the Walking Dead. Basically a prequel to The Walking Dead. Very interesting to see how it all started.

The song I forgot I loved:

Okay. I’m showing my age here, but I was totally jamming out to the 90’s channel on I Heart Radio and All My Life by K-Ci and JoJo came on. I was so hyped and surprised to find out I still knew all the words. Needless to say, but I immediately downloaded onto my iTunes.

The makeup saver:

Recently I picked up Ben Nye’s Final Seal. This has been all over Pinterest for a while now and is supposedly what the Disney Princesses use to keep their makeup looking fresh. I honestly thought this would be a disappointment, but was surprised. Not too many details today, because their will be a review up on Thursday for you.

The brush I can’t believe I’ve been living without:

The E.L.F. contour brush was something I just picked up on impulse. It was only a few bucks, so I figured even if I got buyers remorse, it wasn’t a big deal. Well, that remorse never came. This contour brush saves me so much time. It blends out product so quick.

The hair product to end all hair products:

Sacha Juan Volume Powder has changed the way I view hair products. You know I’m just not usually into putting stuff in my hair. This allows my long, crazy thick hair to get some volume. It’s the first thing that I’ve seen actually work. It’s also a spray powder, so it can double as a dry shampoo. And you know I love me some dual use products.

The primer I’ve been loving:

If you read my review on amazing Cosmetics Anto Aging Face Primer, you know I’ve been using it a lot lately. It leaves my skin with a smooth, hydrated surface for my makeup to look great, without feeling overly heavy or greasy.

The lip product I’ll be rocking all fall:

JCat Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion is gorgeous. It’s the perfect deep red, without falling into being too vampy. Admittedly, it can be hard to work with if you’re not use to this type of product, but as long as you have a decent lip brush and take your time, it’s beautiful.

What’ve been wearing on my face:

I’ve been mixing just a tad of Manna Kadar Sheer Glow Shimmer Lotion with L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24HR foundation. It creates a really nice, healthy glow, that’s still full coverage, but looks more like skin. It allows girls like me (super oily) to still look radiant without looking too shiny.

That’s it for today! What have you been obsessed with this month?

I’ll see you Thursday for a review of Ben Nye Final Seal. đź’‹
Sachs Juan was given to me as employee gratis at Birchbox. The Amazing Cosmetics Anti Aging Primer was sent to me for review purposes. This in no way affects my opinion. This is not a sponsored post. As always, all opinions are my own.

Face of the Day — September 26, 2015

Face of the Day

I know it’s only just now Fall, but can I tell you how I’ve been absolutely dying to rock a darker lip lately? So today I decided enough was enough and went a little darker. Not quite as dark as you’ll see me get a bit later in the year, but a little bit.

I started by mixing my L’oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24 Hour foundation with some Manna Kadar Sheer Glow Shimmer Lotion. I cannot even tell you how beautiful this combo is. The matte foundation with a glow from the Sheer Glow creates a perfect glowy look for those of us who want a beautiful glow without looking dewy. I’m really oily some days, so looking dewy just doesn’t work for me personally.

I used Maybelline Fit Me concealer in shade 10 to highlight the usual places. I set those areas with NYC Smooth Skin loose face powder. Then just a tiny bit of contour of my cheekbones with Anastasia Fawn and of my nose with Anastasia Java.

I used some NYX blush in Pinched for a bit of color. Cheekbone highlight is a combo of Cynthia Rowley Brightening Illuminator and LA Colors Shimmering Loose eyeshadow in Honey Suckle. It’s a little intense, but you know I like my highlight to sort of sit there and scream “Hey!”, not quietly whisper.

I filled in my brows like normal with my Anastasia Brow Wiz.

I promise I’ll stop using this palette soon, but I can’t keep my hands off it. It’s like it sits o my makeup table just screaming my name. Anyways, I used my Anastasia Shadow Couture palette. I know, I know.

Soft Peach was my transition shade. I worked some Fudge into the crease. I then wet a brush with Mac Fix+ and used that to apply some Pink Champagne to my lids. Finally I smudged some Intense Gaze into my lower lash line.

I did have to grab some Wet n Wild BrĂ»lĂ©e as a brow highlight. If there was one complaint I have about the Shadow Couture palette, it’s the lack of a brow highlight shade.

Then I just finished off the look with some Benefit They’re Real mascara and JCat Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion.

I’ll see you for Mani Monday!

Product Review: Amazing Cosmetics Anti-Aging Face Primer — September 24, 2015

Product Review: Amazing Cosmetics Anti-Aging Face Primer

Hey everyone! Amazing cosmetics sent me their Anti-Aging Face Primer to review for you all! So nice, right?

Alright, so I’ve been testing this primer for about three weeks. You know I like to really test stuff out for you. I figure using it once and reviewing it doesn’t really tell you how it works.

This primer is different packaging wise from their other primer. This one is just a typical squeeze tube.

Basically, this is marketed as a primer and moisturizer in one. It is supposed to hydrate your skin, help your makeup last all day, and has some anti aging properties as well.

First I’ll tell you about the formulation. It’s very light weight. It’s a gel formula, so it leaves the surface of your skin very smooth, as it helps fill in pores and fine lines just a little bit. If you’re looking for a miracle, for that at least, this isn’t it.

It does contain vitamins and Cassia Angustifolia Seed. That’s a natural ingredient that mimics your skins hyaluronic acid, and helps it stay hydrated up to 24 hours. Obviously, I haven’t worn this for twenty four hours, but I can say my face does still feel hydrated when I take my makeup off. It also contains Vitamin E, which is a known antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient.

As far as makeup application goes, I’d give this a B+. It does help my foundation sit well. I also notice my makeup doesn’t stick to dry patches when I use this. I chose not to give this an A only because I don’t think it’s the best at filling in pores. I do have a TON of texture to my skin though.

Overall, I would recommend this. Especially if you have dry or combo skin. I’m quite oily, and it works for me, but I would like something that helps me to stay matte a little better.

That’s all for today! I’ll see you Saturday with a new Face of the Day post!

Product Review: Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Masque — September 22, 2015

Product Review: Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Masque

Hey everyone! So you might know this already, but I got this baby in my Build Your Own Box for the month of August. You can see what else I got here

I actually got to use this only twice. But I have crazy (and I do mean C-R-A-Z-Y!) amounts of hair. It’s pretty long, and ultra thick, so most hair products don’t last me long. Usually with travel size things in lucky if I can get one use out of it. I’d guess the average person could get at least four uses out of this size.

So first off, when I opened this, I started drooling. It smells so good, it makes me want to eat it. That’s pretty typical for Macadamia products, though.

So, when you use this, it’s super easy to work through your hair. Some hair masks are almost to thick to work into your hair, but this one was just the right consistency.

I actually left this one on for more like an hour. I watched an episode of Prison Break (Michael Scofield, I melt every time your eyes get all intense!) on Netflix.

When I rinsed it out, the result was nice. My hair felt extra moisturized and not too greasy. It also didn’t feel weighed down like I notice sometimes after a hair mask.

Overall, great product. Definitely worth checking out!

I’ll see you all Thursday with another product review! đź’‹
This product was given to me free from my employer, Birchbox. This in no way affects my opinion. As always, all opinions are my own.

Mani Monday — September 21, 2015

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday everyone! So, for those of you that don’t know, I’ve been living in New York for a while now. I decided what better way to celebrate this city than to do a pizza mani! Right?!?

So basically here I’ve started with my trusty Sally Hansen Triple Strong Strenthener as my base coat. I then just used good old scotch tape to tape off the triangle “pizza slice” shape. I filled that in with Floss Gloss Biscuits.

Next I very messily put on OPI Tickle My France-y like I would a French manicure, but obviously not in a straight line, because hey, crusts stents exactly straight, right?

Then I used Sinful Colors Gogo Girl to make “pepperoni” dots and paint my remaining nails. I topped it all off with Ruffian Gesso Top Coat.

Easy enough right? I’ll see you all tomorrow with a hair product review!

I received the Ruffian Gesso Top Coat as a part of employee gratis from my job at Birchbox. This is not a sponsored post. As always, all opinions are my own.

Face of the Day — September 19, 2015

Face of the Day

Hey everyone! Today is just a yellow eye look, but I have been doing something a little different with my foundation routine lately.

I’ve been mixing Manna Kadar Sheet Glow with my foundation. Instead of just using it on its own as a highlight, this helps to create an all over radiant glow. I’ve been loving how it looks! This time I mixed it with Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in shade 130. (Heads up, if you use more than just a smidge, it can alter the color of your foundation, so just be prepared for that.)

Then, I used Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in shade 10 to highlight under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, and between my brows. You know, the usual.
I baked my face for its a couple of minutes with NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder.

I used my Anastasia Contour Kit in all the usual ways. Not going into too much detail, because I’ve been through that in most of my posts.

I threw on a little Nars Orgasm on the apple of my cheeks and swept it back towards my hair line.

As my shimmery highlight, I layered Milani Runway Eyes eyeshadow in Girls Luv Pink under Physicians Formula abide Wear Glowing Bronzer.

Brows are Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown, set with Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Soft Brown.

For my brown highlight I used Wet n Wild Color Icon single shadow in BrĂ»lĂ©e. In the crease I used Colour Pop eyeshadow in Mooning. On my lid is Sally Girl Baked Eyeshadow in Your Majesty. I wet my brush first with a little Fix+ to get the yellow to really pop. If you don’t have Fix+, eyedrops will work in a pinch.

Then, I layered on a few layers of Too Faced Beter Than Sex mascara.

For my lips, I used Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment, the used Mary Kay lip liner in Chocolate to darken it up just a tad.
That’s all for today everyone! I’ll see you all for Mani Monday!

Product Review: Coola Makeup Setting Spray — September 17, 2015

Product Review: Coola Makeup Setting Spray

I cannot even tell you how excited I was to try this. For several reasons. First of all, I love testing out setting sprays, because I think everyone should know before they invest in one if it works or not. Second of all, technically you should reapply most sunscreens every four hours, which can be impossible if you have a full face of makeup on. This product is supposed to allow you to spray it over your makeup as often as needed without not only not messing up your makeup, but helping it last even longer.

It has SPF 30, which is pretty decent. It also contains green tea and aloe, which can both be very soothing. I was also excited to see it contained hyaluronic acid, so it should be moisturizing, instead of drying out your skin like a lot of setting sprays can.

Okay. Now on with how I thought it worked.

When you first spray this one you face, there is a very school alcohol smell. It can be a little overwhelming if you’re not expecting it. However, since this can be the case with a lot of setting sprays. It does dissipate really quickly, so it really didn’t bother me.

The day I first decided to test this, I thought it performed great. I did notice my makeup looking fresh, even after a long day at work. I did have to blot a bit, but I’m a pretty oily girl.

Usually, I like to test something anywhere between a week and a month before reviewing them for you all, depending on what the product is. The second day I tried to test this, however, it wouldn’t spray out. At first, I thought the nozzle was just clogged, so I tried some tricks I know that have worked for me in the past. I tried spray it upside down, I tried removing the sprayer and soaking it in hot water, both to no avail. I’m not sure what the problem was, but I couldn’t get it to work again.

Now, I did receive this as an employee perk, so it’s not like any money came out of my pocket. I can tell you though, I would be pretty upset if I had paid for it and only got to use it once.

So all in all, I don’t think I’d recommend this product to you all.

That’s it for today guys! I’ll see you al Saturday with a new Face of the Day post! đź’‹
I received this product for free from my place of employment. However, this in no way affects my opinions. As always, all opinions are my own. This is not a sponsored post.

Men’s Build Your Own Box — September 15, 2015

Men’s Build Your Own Box

Hey everyone! As some of you may know, I work at Birchbox Soho. Each month, we get to build a box in the store as an employee perk. I usually try to switch between men’s and women’s boxes so you guys can see what it would be like. This month it’s time for a men’s box.

Here’s kind of a break down for how it works, in case you don’t know. It’s $25.00 to build a men’s box. You get to hand pick four grooming items and a lifestyle item. Here’s what I chose this month.

The Art of Shaving After-Shave Balm Lavender with Vitamin C for Sensitive Skin

Royal Apothic Ultra-Shave Cream Gel

Billy Jealousy Liquidsand Exfoliating Facial Cleanser

Recipe for Men Under Eye Patches (these are amazing by the way!)

J Fold Card Carrier

And that’s it for today guys! I’ll see you all Thursday with a new product review! đź’‹

I received this as a free employee perk. This doesn’t affect my opinion in any way. As always, all opinions are my own. This is not a sponsored post.

Mani Monday — September 14, 2015

Mani Monday

Hi everyone! So I wanted something a bit darker this week.

I used Ten Over Ten in the shade Church in all my fingers except my ring fingers.

On my ring fingers, I used Floss Gloss in the shade Biscuits and some LA Colors striper in Gold Glitter for a tiny bit of added detail.

I will see you all tomorrow with a new Post about men’s products!
