Face of the Day: Halloween Edition — October 31, 2015

Face of the Day: Halloween Edition

Hi! Happy Halloween! I have one last Halloween makeup look for you. I must admit, I’m going to miss this series a little bit. Anyway, let’s jump right in!

I started by prepping my face with Amazing Cosmetics Line Smoother + Primer*. I also prepped my eyelids with Beauty by Piret Eye Silk in Naked. Then I used my Beauty Blender to apply some L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24H Foundation.
Next I used some LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Natural under my eyes. I also kind of heavily applied some Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Charming** to my cheeks and lips.

I then set all that with NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder.

I had an old NYC High Definition Liquid Eyeliner that was pretty much used up, so I used that to sketch in some basic details like that general shape I wanted my brows, some tear shapes under my eyes, outline my lips, and a little beauty mark for fun.
Then I went back over everything but the lips with my trusty Stila Stay All Day liquid eyeliner in Intense Black.

I filled in the tear shapes with Milani Ultrafine liquid eyeliner in Sparkling Turquoise.

I added some of the purple shade from the Wet n Wild Color Icon Art in the Streets palette to my lids. Then I added a pretty aggressively dramatic liner with the Stila liner again.

I applied some NYX Matte Lipstick in Pure Red. Then I used the same Stila liner to outline my lips.

I used a really fine eyeliner brush to apply some highlight type effects to the tears, my nose, lips and under my brows using NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. I then put in some Stila Huge Extreme Lash mascara. Lastly, I applied some Ardell Spiky lashes in 386 with Duo Eyelash Adhesive.
I must admit, I kind of like how it turned out. I’ll see you Monday for Mani Monday! Have a safe and fun Halloween! 💋

October Favorites — October 29, 2015

October Favorites

Hey! So today I’m sharing everything I’ve been obsessing over this month!

My only complaint is waiting every week for the next episode. I think watching Fear the Walking Dead actually made me more excited to watch The Walking Dead this season.

Amazing. Crimson Peak is one of those movies you shouldn’t watch if you get at all squeamish at gore. I’ll leave it at that.

I’m a huge G-Eazy fan anyway, but hearing  this Grace version of You Don’t Own Me with him featured has blown my mind. I have literally had it on repeat. Sometimes I spend thirty minutes just listening to it over and over.

Pumpkin Spice and Candy Corn?!? It’s like CVS read my mind.

This has been my go to fall lip this month. Easy to throw on and feel put together.

This is seriously the most incredible foundation. No matter how oily I get, this never separates in my face. Even without a primer or a setting spray, this lasts at least eleven hours. Plus, it’s full of great stuff! Look for yourself.

This Smashbox Always Sharp Water Proof Kohl Liner in Storm is the perfect smoky eye tool. First off, it’s self sharpening, so there’s no scrambling around trying to find my sharpener. Next, it’s so creamy and the color is so gorgeous.

This is an oldie but a goodie. I sort of forgot how amazing this wears under my makeup. It’s super hydrating, too. I guess with constantly trying new things, it’s easy to forget products you used to love. Well I’m definitely glad I remembered this one!

China Glaze nail polish in Star Hopping is making my nails look nice in a hurry. I slap some of this on and it looks like I spent some time actually found my nails.

I seriously cannot stop playing with that Boomerang app. If you haven’t tried it, do yourself a favor.
I prm use, there’s a story behind this. Meet Allisa! She does stock where I work. We got a certain product in the other day and she couldn’t figure out what it was. She decided whatever it was, she knew what it looked like. I snapped this pic, and made it my contact photo for her. Every time my phone rings, this gem pops up, and I just about die laughing. That makes this the moment of the month! Love you, Alissa!

I’ll see you Saturady, with the last Halloween look I’ll be posting for the year. 💋
This is not a sponsored post. The Inika Foundation was given to me as employee gratis. This is no way affects my opinion. As always, all opinions are my own.

Product Review: Stila Got Inked Cushion Eyeliners — October 28, 2015

Product Review: Stila Got Inked Cushion Eyeliners

Hey! So first off, let me say I’m sorry this is going up a day later than scheduled. I didn’t notice I had accidentally put the wrong day when I scheduled it to post. Anyway, hopefully it won’t happen again.

So today I wanted to talk about the Stila Got Inked Cushion Liners. It seems lately that all sorts of beauty products are coming in cushion versions. In this case, it kind of makes sense. The cushion part allows you to get just enough product, without overloading your brush or easily spilling the product everywhere.

Here’s a list of he ingredients listed on the color Blue Saphire Ink. I know some people are very ingredient conscious, so I thought I’d include the list.

This is Smoky Quartz Ink. I have to say, if you get only one color of these, this would be the color I’d get. I’ll include swatches towards the end of the post, so you can see this unique shade for yourself.

This is Black Obsidian Ink. Pretty much your basic black. Very black, though it does have a shinier finish.

This s Amethyst Ink. A pretty purple, but not something that would be all the difficult to find elsewhere shade wise.

This is Blue Saphire Ink. This is actually a black base with some blue micro glitter in it.

The one thing I mostly have to complain about with these is this: you’d better make sure you get you liner right the first time. If you try to go back over these a second time, the product almost rubs off. Speaking of which, your brush better be in perfect condition. If any of the fibers are slightly out of place your liner will be messed up.

Other than that, the liners are good. Here are some swatches so you can see the true colors.

Anyway, I’ll see you Thursday with my October  favorites! 💋
This is not a sponsored post. While these products are carried where I work, this in no way affects my opinion of them. As always, all opinions are my own.

Mani Monday: Halloween Edition — October 26, 2015

Mani Monday: Halloween Edition

Hey! So for this last Halloween themed ManiMonday, I thought I’d do candy corn themed nails!

First I just cleaned up my nails shape a bit. My cuticles are still a bit of a mess from work, but I did what I could. I then applied some China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat.

After that dried, I taped off a triangle shape on my middle fingers. I filled that space in with OPI Apline Snow.

Without waiting for it to dry, I painted the bottom 2/3 of the triangle with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lightening.

I then quickly painted the bottom 1/3 with Ruffian Fox Hunt*.
I also used it to painted the remaining nails. I also removed the tape.
I then finished of the look with China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat. I also added some China Glaze Orange Cuticle Oil to my cuticles.
I will see you tomorrow with some new swatches! 💋

Face of the Day: Halloween Edition — October 24, 2015

Face of the Day: Halloween Edition

Hey! So I thought I create a sort of warrior princess look this week. This is a super easy look that anyone can do with stuff they most likely already have laying around.

I started by prepping my face with Amazing Cosmetics Anti-Aging Face Primer* and my eyelids with Beauty by Piret Eye Silk in Naked.

Next, I used my Beauty Blender to put some Inika Truly Organic Liquid Foundation** in Beige on. I also used some Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer* in Medium Beige where needed.

I set all that with NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder and did some very light contouring with my Anastasia Contour Kit in Light. I added some color to my cheeks with Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Tucket to Brazil. Since I wanted a more bronzed look, I used Physicians Formula Glowing Nude Wear Bronzer as a cheekbone highlight.

I quickly filled in my brows with my Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown. I also added some NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Dark Brown where my brows are more sparse. I set them with Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Soft Brown.

I decided I wanted a bit more of a bold highlight, so I added some Inika Light Reflect Highlighting Creme** to my cheekbones and above my brows.

Then on to the eyes. I used Beauty by Piret Eye Silk in Sunset on my lids. Like usual, I used my favorite brow highlight product, Wet n Wild Color Icon single eyeshadow in Brule. I added some Bare Minerals eye color in Queen Tiffany to the crease.

Next, I used a NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk to sketch out the shapes I wanted on my face. I then used some ELF Glitter Primer and Mac pigment in Tan to cover that up.

I used NYC single eyeshadow in In Vogue to make a mask like shape around my eyes. Along the top, I drew a heavier line with a Maybelline Master Drama eyeliner in Purple Punch. I finished off the eyes with Stila Huge Extreme Lash mascara.

I lined and filled in my lips with Mary Kay Signature lipliner in Chocolate.

Obviously, you can use any similar products to achieve the same look. You can also change up the shapes or colors to suit you coloring or face shape.

I’ll see you for Mani Monday! 💋

BeautyCon New York 2015 Recap — October 22, 2015

BeautyCon New York 2015 Recap

Hey! So here’s a quick recap of how BeautyCon New York was this year.

This was my first eat attending BeautyCon. While I expected it to be attended by a lot of people, I was quite surprised at how crazy it actually was. Tickets were sold out, and I know at least one person that wanted to go, that couldn’t get tickets. So, I guess heads up if you’re planning on going next year, get your tickets as soon as they go on sale. As for me, I’m not sure I’ll be attending, but I’ll get more into that later.

I was pleasantly surprised at the large range of ages that I saw there. I kind of expected it to be a ton of younger girls, but there was actually a great mix of all ages and sexes.

The best part were definitely the panels. There was a lot of discussion on bullying and how to handle it. Also some talks on self worth and keeping your head up. It was nice to see such a positive side the the beauty world.

The most disappointing part was the lack of shopping available. I know BeautyCon is more about networking and panels, but I still expected more. I think I’ll just be attending IMATS next year instead. Maybe I’ll see you there!

Birchbox October Unboxing — October 20, 2015

Birchbox October Unboxing

Hey! So, today I thought we’d open up my October Birchbox and see what’s in it!!!

So here’s an overview of what my box looks like. Seems like I got the usual 5 deluxe samples and a bonus foil packet.

12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment: claims to benefit hair in 12 ways. Smell is okay. Nothing too fabulous. Excited to see if this really does make a difference.

Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo (and conditioner packet): I can already tell you this stuff is amazing. I’ve been using the conditioner for about a month now and love it. It’s perfect for my dry, wavy hair.

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre: This is a pretty well known moisturizer. I’d say they definitely have they die hard followers. I find it a little too heavy for my oily skin though.

Harvey Prince Ageless: A grapefruit and sandlewood blend that’s supposed to leave you “smelling youthful”. Is that even a thing? I guess there are certain scents I immediately associate with a more mature woman. Maybe it works both ways?

Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara: Has a brush similar to Too Faced Better Than Sex. Great for lots of volume, but can clump easily so be careful. This was the mascara I chose because I had tried it previously and knew I liked it.

That’s it for today! I will see you Thursday!
Not a sponsored post. Though I am a Birchbox employee, I pay out of pocket for my subscription box. As always, all opinions are my own.

Mani Monday: Halloween Edition — October 19, 2015

Mani Monday: Halloween Edition

Happy Mani Monday! So this week was a simple Frankenstein’s monster design.

I started by putting two coats of OPI Gargantuan Green Grape on each ring finger. Then I used Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Black as night to paint the other nails. I also used it to add some hair, an angry type of brow and some eyes to each ring finger. Here’s a close up of the ring finger turned the right way:

Please excuse my cuticles. I know they are a real hot mess. We did inventory at work recently and it was a little rough in my nails.

Anyway, that’s it! I’ll see you tomorrow with my October Birchbox unboxing! 💋

Face of the Day: Halloween Edition — October 17, 2015

Face of the Day: Halloween Edition

Hey! So first let me say excuse my hair. I was trying out a new hair mask, and somehow forgot I was going to prep for this post today.

Anyway, I wanted to do a mermaid inspired look, that pretty much anyone could do. There’s no crazy techniques here, just lots of layering product and blending.

I started with a NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. I drew some of this all over my ocular area, from under my lower lash line, all the way up through my brows. Then I just blended that out a bit with my fingers. Don’t worry about precision here, because you’ll be layering so much other stuff on top.

Since I basically just blanked out my brows, I needed to draw them back on. I used a Milani Ultrafine Liquid Eyeliner in Emerald Green. Basically I just used the same motion I would use with my Anastasia Brow Wiz.

Next, I used one of my favorite products. I took some Sally Girl Magic Eyeshadow in Bewitched on a really dense big crease brush. I applied it everywhere I put the NYX JEP in Milk, even in top of the brows I just drew on.

Next, I decided my brows needed just a bit more definition. I used the Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palette in Art in the Streets. I took the green shade on an Angeles brow brush and swept that threw my brows using upward strokes.

This next step I didn’t love how it turned out. But for posterity’s sake, I’ll tell you what I did. I mixed some Wet n Wild Color Icon Gliter single in bleached with a little LA Colors Shimmering Loose eyeshadow in Snow White. I then used it like a liner and drew on a pretty dramatically long wing. To be honest, you can’t even see this very much, so it ended up being a complete waste. I think next time I would use a gold glitter liquid liner instead. I just finished off the eyes with Stila Huge Extreme Lash mascara.

Now for the face. I used some Stila Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm to even out my complexion a bit. I then dabbed a bit of Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint in Very Charming in my cheeks. I then very heavily applied some Inika Light Reflect Highlighting Creme sort of all over to create a more ethereal glowy look.

Lastly, the lips. I lined an filled in my lips with NYX Wonder Pencil in Light to sort of hide my true lip color. I then used Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeshadow stick in Gossip Green like a lipstick. Lastly, I dabbed just a bit of Violet Voss glitter in Aurora on my lips.

And that’s it! I’ll see you for Mani Monday! 💋
This is not a sponsored post. I recieved the Stila Beauty Balm, Inika Highlighting Creme and Tata Harper Lip and Cheek tint in employee gratis from Birchbox. As always, all opinions are my own.

October B.Y.O.B. Opening — October 15, 2015

October B.Y.O.B. Opening

Hey! So, today I thought I would share with you what I got in my Build Your Own Box at Birchbox where I work. Just so we’re clear this is an employee perk I receive.

Basically, this month I skipped out on fragrance and got two skincare items. I also got a hair care item, a makeup item, and a body item (which the nail polish counts as).

I picked out Ruffian nail lacquer in the color Fox Hunt. I’ve ised the polishes before, and like them. I also thought the orange would be a good color for October.

Next was Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub. I figured I would like this detoxing scrub for my oily as anything skin.

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream I’ve used before. I wouldn’t say you’ll see any overnight results or anything, but this doesn’t bother my sensitive eyes and provides great moisture under my eyes.

I am obsessed with Manna Kadar Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion. I have a friend at work who totally makes fun of me, but I can’t help it. It’s great used in its own as a liquid highlighter, and even more beautiful mixed with your foundation or moisturizer for all over radiance. I figured if this was available, I should grab it.

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle reminds me of childhood. It smells like cotton candy. It’s a great way to add extra moisture to my hair when I need it.

And basically that’s it. I’ll see you on Saturday With another Halloween version of a Face of the Day post! 💋
This box of products was part of the employee perk program at Birchbox. This is not a sponsored post. As always, all opinions are my own.
