Face of the Day — November 28, 2015

Face of the Day

Hey! So I realized I maybe use more glitter than some people might be comfortable with. Here’s a way I also like to use it, that’s a little more wearable.

  • Dermablend Cover Creme in Natural Beige mixed with about three drops of
  • Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
  • Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation stick in Almond to contour
  • LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Natural to highlight
  • Manna Kadar Sheer Glow Shimmer Lotion on cheekbones, bridge of nose and Cupid’s bow
  • Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil to warm up the sides of my face
  • ELF Mattifying Translucent Powder all over to set
  • Maybelline Pure Blush in Pure Raisin
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark Brown to fill in and shape brows
  • NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Dark Brown where I needed a bit more coverage

  • Mally Eyeshadow stick in Saddle Shimmer blended into crease
  • Wet n Wild Color Icon Single eyeshadow in Brûlée on brow bone and packed onto lids
  • ELF Glitter Primer on lower lash line
  • Violet Voss glitter in Hella Amazing
  • Wet n Wild Max Volume Plus mascara
  • Sephora lipstick in Crush
  • Duo Eye Lash adhesive
  • Violet Voss lashes in Black Magic

I’ll see you for Mani Monday! 💋

Hey! First of all, Happy Thanksgiving! This will be a real quick post, so I can spend most of my day spending time with those around me (and of course eating lots of yummy food!)

The eyeliner I’ve been loving: L’Oreal Silkissime Eyeliner in Silver

Lip Product I Can’t Stop Wearing: Wet n Wild in Cinnamon Spice

The Show I Binge Watched All Month: Flesh and Bone

The Movie That Most Impressed Me: Soaked in Bleach

The Snack I Couldn’t Live Without: Dark Chocolate Edamame

My Favorite Moment: Of course spending today with the one I’m most Thankful for, my little man Aidan!
And that’s all! I’ll see you Saturday with a new Face of the Day post! 💋

Don’t be scared… — November 24, 2015

Don’t be scared…

Of products that you don’t understand!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at products and thought, “There’s is absolutely no way I am (insert one: skilled, brave, talented, knowledgable, etc) enough to use that!” Well I’m here to tell you that’s just crap.

I had been looking at a product for a while now, and couldn’t really understand how someone would use it, other than to cover up a tattoo or birthmark. I finally told myself I needed to figure it out. I mean, that’s how we learn, right?

The product was Dermablend Professional Cover Creme. (My shade is Natural Beige if you’re wondering.)

Here’s what it looks like. It’s so thick you cannot even stick the spatula it comes with into it.

After a lot of experimenting, this is what I’ve come up with.

I put 2-3 drops of Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil into the Dermablend container. Then I swirl my favorite foundation brush (currently the Sigma 3DHD) into that and apply it to my face! This creates a pretty full coverage look, but doesn’t look like I have product caked on.

Anyway, moral of the story is, you are skilled, brave, talented and knowledgable enough to use products that scare you! Try things out before you decide you can’t!

I’ll see you Thursday with my November favorites! 💋

Face of the Day — November 21, 2015

Face of the Day

Hey! This week I decided to delve a little bit into holiday season makeup. This look especially works well if you’re short on time or can’t really talk yourself into a complicated eye look. It’s basically your foundation routine, a couple of eyeliners and a bold, deep lip.

Here’s how I pulled it off:

  • I started with L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte 24H foundation in shade 103 Natural Buff. Obviously use whatever foundation and concealer shades work best for you. I really like this foundation because it helps me keep a more matte look.
  • I then covered up a pretty big pimple on my chin using Dermablend Cover Creme in Natural Beige. I will have a more in depth review/tutorial featuring this soon.
  • I conceded under my eyes and did a bit of a cream highlight on my forehead and nose using LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Natural.
  • I highlighted my cheekbones, bridge of nose and Cupid’s bow with Inika Light Reflect Highlighting Creme.
  • I dusted some NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder to set everything.
  • I placed some TheBalm Cindy Lou-Manizer on the areas I used the Inika highlighter.
  • I filled in and shaped my brows using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark Brown. I’ve recently started using a darker shade than normal, and I think I’m liking it.
  • I also set my brows with Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.
  • I swept some Nars Orgasm along my cheeks.

  • I used Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl eyeliner in Storm to create a sort of winged liner shape. Then, using an angled brush, I smudged it just a bit.
  • Next I used L’Oreal Silkissime eyeliner in Silver to liner my lower lash line, also creating a wing there and did tiny vertical lines with it on my inner corners near my tear duct.
  • Just slathered on about three coats of Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.
  • Last, I used a lip brush to apply some JCat Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion.

That’s all! What looks will you be creating this season? I’ll see you for Mani Monday! 💋
This is not a sponsored post. The Smashbox liner and Inika highlighter were given to me as employee gratis. This in no way affects my opinion. As always, all opinions are my own.

November Birchbox Unboxing — November 19, 2015

November Birchbox Unboxing

Yay! It’s time to open my November Birchbox! First of all, how beautiful is this month’s box? I’m love the design.

So it seems the theme this month is all about pampering yourself before the crazy holiday season. I say who couldn’t use a little more of that, pretty much anytime of the year?

TheBalm Frat Boy shadow/blush

Kind of an akward size to use as a blush. For reference, it’s about the size of a penny. I will totally rock it as an eyeshadow, though.

Definitely a pretty color. (Please excuse my goosebumps. It’s been just a little cold here in New York lately!)

Obliphica Seaberry Hair Serum: I’m not too sure why I recieved this one in particular. Only because this seems to be the fine to medium formula, and if you know anything about me, I’m just about the complete opposite of that. Although I’ll still try it, because it’s meant to repair damage, rehydrate and leave hair silky smooth.

Temple Spa La La Lagoon Aromatic Bath & Shower Gel: eh. I mean it’s shower gel.

Harvey Prince Sincerely: perfume is never really all that exciting to me. I know what I like and I already own it. But this one does smell nice.

Love of Color Vibrant Matte Lipstick in Glam Life: I love lipsticks in this form. Easy to keep in my bag and touch up in the go.

It’s a great simple fall color, too.
And that’s the box! I’ll see you Saturday with a new Face of the Day post! 💋

This is not a sponsored post. While I am a Birchbox employee, I do pay full price out of pocket for my subscription. As always, all opinions are my own.

November Build Your Own Birchbox — November 17, 2015

November Build Your Own Birchbox

Hey! It’s that time again! And no I didn’t forget it’s men’s month. Let’s jump right in. First of all, how cute are these new holiday edition boxes?

Here’s a close up of the pattern on the front:

I love it so much! So much more festive then the craft paper and black standard ones.

Here’s a look of what I chose to put inside.

Baxter Clay Mask for normal to oily skin: deep cleansing, purifying, soothing, hydrating.

The Barba Terra Beard Oil: organic, made in NYC

Youth to the People Kale + Green Tea, Spinach, Vitamins Age Prevention Cleanser: all natural, very nice minimalist packaging

Hudson Made Morning Shift Body Bar: Rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, made in New York.

Krochet Kids Beanie:  a nice black and grey beanie

There is also a tag on it that says buy a hat, change a life.

So each Krochet Kids item is signed by its maker. That’s cool.

You can even visit the website and read your woman’s story. There’s also a way to send a thank you or short message to each woman. The stories were really inspiring. This hat may well be my favorite item I’ve ever put into a build your own box.

That’s all for today! I’ll see you Thursday! 💋
This is not a sponsored post. Although I am a Birchbox employee, I paid out of pocket and full price for this box. As always, all opinions are my own.

Face of the Day — November 14, 2015

Face of the Day

Hey! So I guess I was finally ready to do a crazy glittery/ smokey eye! But also not ready to give up this bright purple lip apparently.

So I’m not sure if you know this, but I usually have no idea what look I’m going to create when insist down to work on these Face of the Day posts. I usually just use whatever inspires me or maybe a new product I’m super excited to try out! Anyway, I’ve been dying to use this glitter on my lid ( previously I’ve only used it as a liner), and this is kind of what happened. Here’s how I achieved the look:

  • Inika Truly Organic Liquid Foundation in Beige*
  • LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Creamy Beige to conceal
  • LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Natural as a matte highlight
  • Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark Brown to fill and shape
  • Trestique Mini Shadow Crayon in Himalyan Slate* on my lids and buffed into the crease
  • Too Faced Chocolate Soleil to warm up my complexion just a tad and add a slight contour
  • Physicians Formula Multi Colored Blush in Blushing Berry
  • ELF Glitter Primer on lids
  • Violet Voss glitter in The Fair on top of glitter primer
  • Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara
  • Wet n Wild Max Volume Plus mascara
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Como

That’s it for today! I’ll see you for Mani Monday! 💋
