July Favorites — July 28, 2016

July Favorites

Hey! It’s that time to share with you all the things I’ve been obsessing about this month! Let’s jump right in!

The thing that’s made my blowouts smoother: Moroccan Oil Blow Dry Concentrate. Actually did hydrate my hair, instead of just dosing it with a bunch of silicones.

How my bleached hair doesn’t look like straw: Healthy Sexy Hair Color Prolonging and Repairing Treatment. This works. Enough said. Also got it at an amazing price.

The skincare item I could feel working: Queen Helene Mud Pack Masque. I’m kind of obsessed with this stuff. How often do you think it’s okay to use?

And of course a glitter: Violet Voss Glitter in Taylor. So multi dimensional. So beautiful. I want to bathe in it.

The product that’s changed my makeup game: Mehron Mixing Liquid. I can’t stop creating fun and exciting new waterproof eyeliners with this stuff.

The nail polish I’ve been loving: Deco Miami nail lacquer in Champagne Mami. Gorgeous any time of year.

The food I could’ve eaten every day: a vegan bacon cheeseburger from Champs Diner in Brooklyn. Yum!

The makeup look I loved most this month: my Fourth of July look.

The Mani I loved most this month: this one.

The new show I’ve been obsessed with: Stranger Things. Goodies meets old school Stephen King type of stuff. Just awesome.

The come back show I was most excited for: Mr. Robot. Yes. Just yes.

The silly show I binge watched on Netflix: Blue Mountain State. Silly. Grossly immature. A great dumbed down show to watch when you’ve got nothing better to do.

The song I couldn’t stop listening to: Fergie’s M.I.L.F. $ Just listen to it. Or watch the video. You’ll get it.

The book I couldn’t put down: Son by Lois Lowry. Admittedly meant for a younger audience, the conclusion to my favorite series of all time, I actually both read it and listened to the audio book this month.

The album I had on repeat: Niykee Heaton’s The Bedroom Tour Playlist. This is a couple of years old, but if you can’t feel sexy while blasting this, I’m not sure what you’re doing wrong.

And that’s all for today. I’ll see you Saturday with a new Face of the Day post!

July 2016 Haul — July 26, 2016

July 2016 Haul

Hey! It’s time to share all the things I give in to and bought this month.

L’oreal Quick Blue Powder Bleach: I’m attempting to lighten up my hair up some and since I have more hair than most people, a bucket is all that will do.

L’oreal Oreor Creme 40 Volume Developer: grabbed this because I wanted to lighten several levels. Most people would probably be better off with a 30 if they’re inexperienced however.

Queen Helene Mud Pack Masque: because who couldn’t use another mud mask? This turned out surprisingly good for the cheap price.

Queen Helene Grape See Peel-Off Masque: grabbed this since I liked the mud mask. Don’t love it. Don’t hate it. Strong smell of alcohol. Doesn’t seem to peel right, no matter how long I let it dry.

Healthy Sexy Hair Color Prolonnging and Repairing Treatment: since I was doing some serious bleaching, I figured I’d give this a go. It really did not disappoint.

LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Natural: this is a repurchase. It’s a go to for me.

Violet Voss Glitter in Taylor: I’m always picking these up, so why not a new shade? This one in particular is super multi dimensional.

Mehron Mixing Liquid: Amazing. I can create waterproof eyeliners and stuff with just this and loose pigments or glitters.

Ben Nye MagiCake Aqua Paint in Bright Red: just a great addition to my collection.

Ben Nye MagiCake Aqua Paint in Bright Orange: just another color.

Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Makeup Sealer: my go to setting spray. I’ll be repurchasing this until I die probably.

Kryolan Aqua Color Wet Makeup in Copper: I picked this up to try with the mixing liquid as an eyeliner. Looks beautiful. Also tried to create coppery brows one day, but didn’t love that.

Violet Voss Lashes in Eye DGAF: because if you can get past the thick band, all the Violet Voss lashes are everything. They seriously make me excited to put on makeup. I think I’m actually addicted to warring falsies just because of how gorgeous all their lashes are.
And that’s all for this month. I’ll see you Thursday!

DIY Pressed Glitters — July 21, 2016

DIY Pressed Glitters

Hey there! So I’ve been seeing all these tutorials lately on how to create pressed glitters. I thought I’d give it a go and share how it went with you.

This is a combination of a few different tutorials that I read, so I’ll show you what I did.

First, gather you supplies. Some of this you may have sitting around your house.

  • 100% Aloe
  • Pure Glycerin
  • 91% Alcohol
  • A medicine dropper
  • A small container to mix in
  • Glitter. More than you think you’ll need
  • Empty eyeshadow palette or pans

First, sanitize your pans or palette with the alcohol.

Next, add about 3 teaspoons of the alcohol to your mixing container.

Now add two teaspoons of the glycerin to the alcohol. Mix well.

Now add 1 teaspoon of aloe to the mixture. Stir until you cannot stir any more.

Now, fill each pan with a small amount of liquid. Top with glitter or glitters of choice. Mix well. I used the tip of the medicine dropper, but you may want to use a toothpick. Then top with more of the liquid and glitter until filled, mixing between each layer.

Here’s how mine looks at this point.

Now for the most important step. Patience. Leave it sitting for 24 hours. Do not touch it!!!

Here’s how it turned out!

Here’s the list of glitters I mixed together listed top row left to right, then bottom row left to right:

  • Violet Voss Glitters in Holy Grail and Kona
  • Violet Voss Glitters in Teresa and The Fair
  • Violet Voss Glitters in Kona and Penny
  • Violet Voss Glitters in Kona and Hella Amazing
  • Violet Voss Glitter in Teresa
  • Sally Beauty Supply Sally Girl Sparkle Effects in Blue Lagoon and Violet Voss Glitter in Brenda
  • Violet Voss Glitters in Paige and Holy Smokes
  • Violet Voss Glitters in Teresa and Venus
  • Violet Voss Glitters in Sandy and Rosalind
  • Violet Voss Glitters in Electric Coraline and Holy Smokes

And here’s some swatches in the same order:

Direct sunlight top row

No lightings used top row

Direct sunlight bottom row

No lighting used bottom row.
And that’s all for today! I’ll see you Saturday!

Beauty Trash — July 19, 2016

Beauty Trash

Hey there! So I thought I’d share my empties with you. This is most of what I’ve managed to use up since my last Beauty Trash post, although I’ll admit sometimes I do toss things in the trash and forget to save them.

Michael Todd Charcoal Detoxifying Facial Mask: this was great big you can get past the sulfur smell, it does work nicely. I probably won’t repurchase, but only because I’m constantly trying new skin care.

Laniege Water Sleeping Mask: this felt nice on my skin. Very cooling, as it’s more of a gel like moisturizer. I won’t be repurchasing, since it can’t really compete with my Ceramidin Cream.

GHD Heat Protect Spray: this was my favorite heat protectant for a long time. I’ve since been using 12 benefits, however, with I love because of the silk proteins, so I won’t be repurchasing.

Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Makeup Sealer: if you know me at all, you know I bought a new one before this one even ran out.

Dr. Brandt Needles No More Instant Wrinkle Relaxing Cream: while I felt this nice and cooling when applied, I didn’t see a real difference in my skin, so I won’t be repurchasing.

LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Natural: I also repurchased this as soon as I saw it running low. This is my go to under eye highlight.

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder: this was pretty basic. I’ve already moved on to some other brands.

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation in Buff Beige: I love this stick version when in a hurry. However, I’m on a bit of a no buy when it comes to foundation, because I have way way way too many in my collection.

Bairly Sheer Airbrush Cosmetics Spray On Makeup Sealant: eh. I bought this to try out, but there’s no comparison to my go to Final Seal.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Face Mask: while I wanted to love this, I just didn’t see enough difference in my skin to justify buying it again.

Tata Harper Very Bronzing Bronzer: I love love love this for cream contouring.  I need to get my hands on it again before Fall arrives and it’s cool enough to rock a full face everyday.

Kopari Coconut Sheer Oil: I loved this. I’m currently working my way through the coconut melt now, so I won’t need any more for a long while.

REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial: I like this. Still deciding if I’ll be picking it up again. Definitely considering it.

Paula’s Choice Resist Vitamin C Spot Treatment: I think this only working slightly, even when using it every evening. I’ll be on the lookout for something better.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer in Dark Brown: I didn’t think I’d ever be disloyal to my Brow Wiz, but I’m obsessed with this!

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer: this  as okay. It worked well as long as you only applied a minimal amount. I also didn’t see a huge difference in my pore appearance.

Physicians Formula Concealer Twins in Yellow/Light: eh. Not very much coverage. Colors were spot on, but won’t be repurchasing.

Olay Tone Perfecting Cream: once again, can’t compete with my Ceramidin Cream.

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream: not really any “wonder”. Nice hydration and light enough to wear under makeup.

NER:D Miraculous Brightening Clarifying Face Cleanser: nice enough, but I think I’ll still keep looking for something else for the price.

Benefit The Porefessional: I like this. But I love my Amazing Cosmetics Primers more.

Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask: this was quite heavy on my oily skin. Won’t be repurchasing. Probably better for someone with super dry skin.

Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm: this is life! Already grabbed more!

Maybelline Master Fix By Face Studio Setting and Perfecting Loose Powder: just another basic powder. Already moved on to something else.

Benefit They’re Real mascara: nice. Like everyone else out there I like it. But because I have way to many mascaras in my collection, I’m on a mascara no buy.

REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask: love this. Need to grab more.

I’ll see you Thursday with an exciting post!

Lets Talk Using Liquid Lipstick as Eyeliner — July 14, 2016

Lets Talk Using Liquid Lipstick as Eyeliner

Hey! Following up on the post on glitter lips, I figured I’d show you how I use liquid lipstick as eyeliner. People are always asking me how I get such cool liquid eyeliner colors, and the answer is simple. I cheat by using liquid lipsticks!

First, you need to only use liquid lipsticks that dry completely matte. Otherwise you make a huge mess of things.

I really like to use Stila, Kat Von D and Violet Voss liquid lipsticks. These all dry really quickly and are super smooth to apply.

I apply a little to the back of my hand. You can also use any smooth surface that’s non porous.

Next you need a really good liner brush. I prefer an angled one, but whatever works for you. I love using my Sigma E65.

Then you just apply like you would with a gel liner.

That’s all for today! I’ll see you Saturday with a Face of the Day post!
