August 2016 Favorites

It’s time for my August Favorites!!!

Moment I had been waiting for: This has been a truly exciting month for me! My sister Megan finally gave birth to my beautiful niece Charleigh! (And yes I had to not let my phone autocorrect that to her nickname, if you’re reading this Megan!)

She’s so stinking cute, and a bit of my namesake! My middle name is actually Leigh, so the Charleigh  is for me! You know that makes a girl feel special!

Smell I wanted to smell all day everyday: Voluspa Prosecco Bellini Candle. Like heaven. Enough said!

Polish I couldn’t stop staring at: Butter London nail lacquer in Lovely Jubbly

The show that’s got me intrigued: Too Close to Home. While I’ve only seen one episode as I type this, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what happens!

What I binge watched: Friends. Thank you Netflix.

The movie that took me back: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I watched this in the park a couple of weeks ago and had a total blast. Movies in the park might become a new obsession.

The hair mask that’s saving my hair: Novex Bamboo Sprout Extra Deep Hair Masque. I’ve bleached my hair 3 times in 6 weeks, and my hair still looks great. It has to be this mask.

The face mask I wish I could use more often: Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. You can truly feel this working. More in depth review coming.

How I got my glow on: Violet Voss Pro Highlighting Powders. Yasssss! Enough glow even for me!

The product I didn’t expect to love and did: Grande Lips Hydrating Lip Plumper. While I haven’t really noticed any plumping, the nice cooling feeling and moisture I get from this are both amazing.

The eyeliner I wore almost everyday: NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Black. Stays alllllll day. Blacker than black.

The Face of the Day I loved most: this look featuring Sugarpill Hi-Viz. I love how differently sultry this came out.

The Mani Monday mani that got the most compliments: the magically bright cheetah Floss Gloss look had people stopping and asking me where I got my nails done. Makes a girl feel special!

And that’s it for today! See you Thursday!

August 2016 Haul — August 25, 2016

August 2016 Haul

Hey! It’s time for my August beauty haul! Let’s jump in!

Ben Nye Final Seal Matte Makeup Sealer: my holy grail makeup setting spray. I try not to be without it.

L’Oreal Oreor Creme 30 Volume Developer: to work some more on my bleaching process

Novex Bamboo Sprout Extra Deep Hair Care Cream: to recover from my bleaching process

L’oreal Extra Strength Quick Blue Powder Bleach: also for my bleaching journey

Yes Enjoy Time Don’t Worry Mask Sheet Firefighter Mask (Soothing): because a girl can never own too many sheet masks!

Pure Smile Gold Essence Mask: because, well, sheet masks!

NYX Hot Singles Eyeshadow in Lace: picked this up as a basic brow bone highlight. Here’s a swatch:

Butter London Nail Lacquer in Lovely Jubbly: because glitter!

Butter London Nail Lacquer in Disco Biscuit: because it goes with the glitter!

Ahava Time to Clear Refreshing Cleasing Gel: I like to use a gel cleanser in the morning, so I figured I’d give this one a go.

Ricky’s NYC RickyCare Twist Pins: anyone who’s ever met me knows how I’m obsessed with the these things!

Twinkle Eyebrow Razors: my brand of choice.

NuMe White Truffle Leave in Moisturizer: so the store was out of my go to and this was on sale, so I thought I’d give it a whirl

Klorane Soothing and Relaxing Patches for Eye Contour: great for mornings after you didn’t get much sleep. Or when you’ve had too much wine the night before. Or both. Whatever.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay: I’ve been hearing about this forever and finally remembered to pick it up.

Ahava Time to Clear Rich Cleansing Cream: While I like a gel cleanser in the morning, I prefer a cream one at night so I picked this one up to try out.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle: because washing my hair sucks.

Violet Voss Pro Highlighting Powders: because Violet Voss x highlighters= life.
And that’s all for this month! I’ll see you Saturday with a new Face of the Day post!

Mani Monday — August 22, 2016

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday! I brought you a very bright neon look this week!

I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps Hardener.

I then painted all my nails except my pinkies with two coats of Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Wet.

For my pinky nails, I slapped on two coats of Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Pony. I also used this shade to create a few tony blob like shaped on my ring finger nails.

Around each blob and a bit in between, I used Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Lean.

I topped it all off with a coat of CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat.

I’ll see you tomorrow!

Let’s Talk: Colored Brows — August 18, 2016

Let’s Talk: Colored Brows

So, in my glitter brows post, I told you I’d do a colored brows post as well. Now, you can use this technique if you have colored hair, or if you just like to be unique like I do.

I will tell you this: when I get on the train near my house in Queens, I get a lot of stares. But it’s like magic when I cross the border over to Manhatten. Then people think it’s interesting instead of weird. So be prepared. I don’t even pay attention to people staring at this point. I figure if they have nothing better to do than judge others, I don’t need to care what they think anyway.

Anyway, first I start off by filling in and shaping my brows with a lipliner or eyeliner. This just kind of gives me a guide for the next step. This time I used a Maybelline Master Drama by Eyestudio eyeliner in Purple Punch.

Next, I use an angled brush and a liquid lipstick to finish off the look busy make sure you pick something long wearing and matte, so your brows aren’t running down your face later. This time I used a Sigma e75 and Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Como. This is one of my go to colored brows colors. I don’t know why, I kind of just love myself with purple brows I guess!

And that’s it! I’ll see you Saturday with another Face of the Day post!

Violet Voss Highlighting Powders Palette Swatches

I finally got my hands on the Violet Voss Highlighting Powders palette! I thought I’d share some swatches with you!

This is how the palette looks out of the box. I’m super impressed by the packaging. It seems like it would be super hard to shatter with how this is packaged in the box. I also appreciate the large mirror inside. Plus, the packaging is just so cute and chic!

Here’s Moon Gleam.

Here’s Star Glow.

Here’s Unicorn Luster. (Which you know I have to love just because of the name!)
Overall, I’m in love! I’ll see you Thursday!

Mani Monday — August 15, 2016

Mani Monday

Happy Mani Monday! I created a graphic mani for you this week.

First, I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Hatd as Wraps Hardener.

Then, when that was completely dry, I used regular scotch tape to section off some areas on each nail.

The purple shade is Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Lavish.

The greenish shade is Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Wet.

The orangey shade is Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquer in Pony.

I then waited until it was dry to the touch and topped it off with a coat of CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat.

I’ll see you tomorrow!
